CALL FOR AMATEUR MUSICIANS TO CELEBRATE BALBOA’S CENTENNIAL!

PlazaDePanama

On Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m., for the first time ever, San Diego’s amateur musicians have the opportunity to play alongside the best-of-the-best—the all-star Mainly Mozart Festival Orchestra—at the Plaza de Panama in Balboa Park under the baton of Maestro Michael Francis!

Mainly Mozart is inviting 33 advanced adult amateurs to be paired side-by-side with the concertmasters of the Cleveland Orchestra, Dallas Symphony, Canadian Opera, Indianapolis Symphony and more, plus principal players from the orchestras of Philadelphia, Cleveland and the New York Met, as part of the 100th anniversary celebration of Balboa Park.

For this event 11 amateur violinists, four violists and cellists, two basses, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon and French horn players will be paired for rehearsals and a public outdoor concert in Balboa Park on Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 p.m.

This concert is free to the public!

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO PERFORM

Because there isn’t room onstage for everyone who wants to play, we are inviting the entire community of San Diego to play from the audience. It is a day when all of San Diego can come together to make music—regardless of instrument, age or skill level. Pound a drum, blow a kazoo or dust off your clarinet from junior high—it’s all about the joy of sharing music!

Please let us know if you intend to play along with the orchestra at this concert. You can download a sign up form right here. Be sure to include your name, instrument and phone number, and let us know if you will attend any of the three community rehearsals.
